„It’s not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.“

My name is Alexander Tirpitz and I am Partner at the EO Institute in Berlin, where I am mainly responsible for the business area organizational development. My focus in consulting is on leadership development, strategic organizational issues, and the development of team and organizational resilience.

I am also a Business School Professor at IU International University where I am teaching international students in different degree programs (MBA, Masters, Bachelors). Before my appointment at IU, I was a Management Professor at the FOM German-Sino School of Business & Technology with several teaching and research assignments at different Chinese universities.

My current research mainly focuses on psychosocial effects of AI (artificial intelligence) in business school education, business operations, and in management. If you want to learn more about my ongoing research projects or cooperate on the topic, feel free to contact me.

In private, I am passionate about martial arts and was a member of the German Ju-Jutsu National team for many years. In 2019, I even won a gold medal at the European Championship in the Masters category.

My broad experience and expertise stems from working in or with German and international organizations in Germany and China. Prior to my current position I was the Managing Director of the German Center for Market Entry and prior to that a project manager at a German business think tank. However, one topic has always been at the center of my professional life: Supporting organizations in developing the necessary capabilities to grow and improve further. For instance, I did co-design and carry out a leadership development program for more than 100 managers of a major German refinery, supported a German Federal Ministry in introducing new flexible work structures, I regularly trained the leaders of a major German home appliances company in diversity management and leadership, and only recently advised the logistics division of a major German retailer on the re-organization of its management and team structures.

I studied Business Administration (Management, Organization, Leadership) and Chinese Studies at Freie Universität Berlin (M.A.). Further, I received a doctor’s degree in Business from Freie Universität Berlin for an extra-occupational dissertation on the capability orchestration of superiorly performing Chinese multinationals in Europe.
